▪️2yo age - 2024 Magic Millions Yearlings

♦️yearlings sold for over $800,000+

This sale had 36 yearlings sold for $800k+ here is how that current crop of 2yo’s have performed on the race track.

▶️  Only 17 [47%] of these highest priced 2yo have made it onto the track.  It is amazing considering these are presumably the “pick of the crop” and high prices would have been paid to try and redeem some of the huge 2yo prize money - “19 horses have not raced”.

▶️. Only 7 have won a race

▶️  Of these only two have won more than 1 race: King of Pop and Return To Conquer.

▶️. Only 1 of these has earned more prize money than their cost - DEVIL NIGHT

This sale had 35 yearlings sold for $800k+ here is how that current crop which have raced as 2yo and now 3yo’s have performed on the race track.

▶️  31 [88%] of these highest graduates have made it onto the track.

▶️. 26 of them have won a race

▶️  Of these only two have won more than 3 races: Clean Energy and Eneeza.

▶️. Very disappointing that almost 75% through their 3yo career, only 2 of the crop has earned more prize money than their cost - BOSUSTOW & ENEEZA.   In fact the returns are really devastating if you had one of the 35 runners.

This sale had 38 yearlings sold at the high end for $800k+

◽️a positive 35 [92%] of these highest priced [now 4yo’s] made it onto the track.

❌ only 1 horse - SCHWARZ, has earned more prize money than his sales cost.

❌ 6 of the 35 [17%] runners, have not won a race, deep into their 4yo year.

❌ 12 of the 35 [34%], have only won 1 race

🕳️ so 18 of these highest priced 38 yearlings [a;most 50%] have won 1 race or less.  This is after rigorous inspections by the experts that shape the breeding industry.

This sale only had 27 yearlings sold for $800k+

◽️25 of them [93%] of these highest priced graduates have made it onto the track.

❌ Deep into their 5yo racing year, only 2 of the 25 [highest priced by the expert buyers] has earned more prize money then their sales cost.

❌ 6 of the 25 [24%] runners, have not won a race, deep into their 5yo year.

❌ 5 of the 25 [20%], have only won 1 race

🕳️ so the combined number of horses from the elite or most expensive of this draft [racing age now 5yo] that have won only 1 race or less is 11 of 25 [44%]. 

And repeating only 2 of the highest priced 25 yearlings that raced, earned prize money greater than their sales cost - just baffling that the majority at the high end of the market consistently “underperform” on the racetrack.
