Melb PREMIER Yearling Sale 2024
▪️current 2yo age - The “highest priced” yearlings.
♦️yearlings sold for over $300,000+ [lower price base]
This sale had 29 yearlings sold for $300k+ and very few of this current crop of 2yo’s have started in a race
◽️Just 5 [17%] of these highest priced 2yo’s have made it onto the track.
Thank goodness for the undefeated VINROCK, otherwise its a really poor early showing and low performance base.
◻️Only 1 has won a race - VINROCK, a G1 winner at 2yo and only cost $300,000.
◻️The combined record on the other 4 to have raced is:
6 starts: 0-1-0 for combined prize money of $13,500

Melb PREMIER Yearling Sale 2023
▪️current 3yo age - The “highest priced” yearlings.
♦️yearlings sold for over $300,000+ [lower price base]
This sale had 31 yearlings sold for $300k+ and has a great strike rate that 28 of them [90%] have made it to the races.
◻️Disappointing that only 3 of the 31[9%] have earned more prize money then their sale price - considering they have been of racing age for almost 18 months.
Angel Capital - $p/m: $600,000 - cost $400,000
Red Aces - $p/m: $430,000 - cost $380,000
Kuroyanagi - $p/m: $396,000 - cost $390,000
◻️Disappointing that 14 or the 28 to have raced…. Have not won yet !
Have not won a race [considering these are the highest priced yearlings] that were hand selected by the people who shape the breeding industry, and possibly look over these horses a collective 40-50 times throughout the sales inspections.

Inglis Melb PREMIER 2022 - now 4yo
▪️current 4yo age - The “highest priced” yearlings.
♦️yearlings sold for over $300,000+
This sale had an unbelievable 47 yearlings sold for $300k+ [lower base price sale]
◽️42 of these [89%] highest priced [now 4yo’s] made it onto the track.
❌ Only 3 of these 42 [7%] horses have earned more prize money than his sales cost
[2 in Hong Kong] Markwin & Packing Hermod, plus recent Victorian winner ENXUTO who just passed his sales cost by +$20,000]
❌ 9 of the 42 [21%] runners, have not won a race, deep into their 4yo year.
❌ 14 of the 42 [33%], have only won 1 race
🕳️ so those last two figures show almost 55%% of the highest priced yearlings have won 1 race or less. Not a good ratio for the geniuses that inspect them and have the yearlings out of their box so many times during the early days of the auction.

Inglis Melb PREMIER 2021 - now 5yo
▪️current 5yo age - The “highest priced” yearlings.
♦️yearlings sold for over $300,000+
This sale had 35 yearlings sold for $300k+ [lower base price sale]
◽️33 of them [94%] of these highest priced graduates [now 5yo] have made it onto the track.
◻️Fairly low number - 5 of the 33 [highest priced by the expert buyers] has earned more prize money then their sales cost.
❌ 8 of the 33 [24%] runners, have not won a race, deep into their 5yo year.
❌ 4 of the 33 [12%], have only won 1 race
🕳️ so the combined number of horses from the elite or most expensive of this draft [racing age now 5yo] that have won only 1 race or less is 12 of 33 [36%], furthermore only 5 of this top sector have earned more than their cost.
