3 year old's of horse racing - "the classic age"

    • Kizuna [Halo]

  • U.K

    • Blue Point [Storm Cat]

  • IRELAND

So here are the tables....

Underneath each table is a summary showing the stallion with most 3yo "stakes winners" for the year, plus the 3yo "w-t-r" [winners to runners percentages]

U.S.A

ree

No other country has a leader board dominated by two stallion clusters.

The USA leader board is dominated by two clusters, representing 17 of the 25 that evolve from these two clusters being Mr Prospector and Storm Cat.

  • 10 - Storm Cat

  • 7 - Mr Prospector

JAPAN

ree

KIZUNA [halo cluster], the powerhouse son of Deep Impact is a clear leader of 3yo wnners in one of the toughest racing precincts in the world. It is amazing that he has 30+ more winners than second placed American bred Majestic Warrior.

  • 5 - Bold Reasoning

  • 5 - Mr Prospector

  • 5 - Storm Cat

  • 4 - Halo

U.K

ree

BLUE POINT [Storm Cat] commenced stud duties in 2020 and he is a clear leader of 3yo winners in 2024, striking at 55% winners to runners.

  • 9 - Green Desert

  • 4 - Storm Cat

  • 4 - Galileo

  • 3 - Mr Prospector

IRELAND

ree

It's a familiar pattern with GALILEO dominating the leader board in Ireland, however this year he holds the top 4 positions as his three sons Frankel, Churchill and Gleneagles are holding positions 2-3-4.

  • 5 - Storm Cat

  • 5 - Green Desert

  • 4 - Galileo

  • 4 - Mr Prospector

  • 4 - Danehill

FRANCE

ree

The son of Siyouni, CITY LIGHT [Polar Falcon] had a moderate race career, however he is proving to be an outstanding stallion with his second crop [first year 3yo's], he nudges his father out of first spot by 1 winner [as of early October].

  • 6 - Mr Prospector

  • 5 - Green Desert

  • 4 - Galileo

  • 3 - Storm Cat

AUSTRALIA

ree

Zoustar [Encosta De Lago] and Dundeel [High Chaparral] are the break out leaders of 3yo winners in 20024. With an impressive strike rate of 61% winners to runners, Zoustar is showing his class by also having six x 3yo stakes winners.

  • 8 x Danehill

  • 4 x Green Desert

  • 3 x Encosta De lago

  • 3 x High Chaparral

  • 3 x Last Tycoon

NEW ZEALAND

ree

NZ leader board has some good stallion variation and offering less races, it's a close tussle between 3 stallions ALMANZOR [Mr Prospector] on 17 wins, EMBELLISH [Sir Ivor] on 15 wins and CHARM SPIRIT [Green Desert] on 14 wins.

  • 6 - Mr Prospector

  • 6 - Danehill

  • 3 - High Chaparral

GERMANY

ree

Staying pedigrees dominate the German tables.

  • 5 - Danehill

  • 5 - Mr Prospector

  • 4 - Galileo

SOUTH AFRICA

ree

It's an accurate observation to see that the South African 3yo winners table has a different look of stallion clusters - in particular the top 10.

These leading stallions have great strike rates [winners to runners].

The champion son of Silvano - the mighty VERCINGETORIX [Niniski] is the only Nijinsky line son in the top 10 of any leader board throughout the world.

It's also interesting to see no Storm Cat lineage stallion on their top 25 leader board.

  • 5 - Danehill

  • 4 - Mr Prospector

  • 4 - Galileo
